Pick a little, talk a little–How to make a speech for IDSA Lyme review panel
Well, as you can see, I’ve reached the cutting and pasting portion of writing my speech for the IDSA Lyme Guidelines Review Panel—a bit like making a quilt. You start off with yards of different fabrics, cut them into little squares and eventually reassemble them into the quilt, tying off the edges carefully and trying not to prick yourself with the needle on the way. As a patient advocate, I am allotted 15 minutes to make my point and leave the podium. By the way, it is a lot more difficult to write a 15 minute speech than a 45 minutes speech—size matters. It’s like Mark Twain said: “I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead.”
This is the “before” version laid out on the table. I think the formula is:
[long version + a gazillion hours = short version]. Sigh. . . .
Thank you.
I don't know what else to say but that. I'm glad that there is someone out there who understands and cares enough to take the time to do this.
So, thank you.
Thank you for your hard work. We (lyme patients) need all the representation we can get. I am adversely affected every day by the current IDSA so-called guidelines.
I linked your survey in my blog and asked readers to fill it out ASAP. Best wishes in DC!

We are praying for you here, Lorraine. I am so glad you included this photo. It is true. A picture, in this case, is worth a thousand (countless) words. The families and doctors already in this battle as well as the inconceivable numbers of people who have yet to know 'if' and 'that' their bodies are battling this pathogen, are blessed to have you as one beautiful voice representative. TY for every one of those gazillion hours of sweat equity on behalf of the Lyme community. Please eat your veggies and drink your water, take your vitamins and rest where you can as the day approaches. You are surrounded even more with our support with this blogging. It helps when others can put a face to the name and then relate it to one more voice defending the truth for their health and well-being. The Lord bless u and keep u as you go! My deepest respect and gratitude dear one. ~d
We certainly appreciate the sacrifice of your time and efforts – your life work – battling this "Monster."
Since 2005, our five children have been infected with Lyme, and our lives have changed… forever, because of it. (How many times I have heard the doctors tell me "We don't have Lyme in this area…")
Thank you, thank you, thank you, and may God abundantly bless and make fruitful all of your hard work!
Thank You for being strong and able to fight for what is right! This disease is so devastating especially being in Mass. where no Lyme doctors exist!
