Cape Cod teacher talks about partner’s Powassan death
Cape Cod Times, July 3, 2017:

Tracey Hanna faced a series of unexpected goodbyes after her partner, Alan, was suddenly stricken with encephalitis in mid-December.
…Finally, on Jan. 6, the family gathered around as Alan, who worked at a Cape public works department, was removed from the ventilator that had kept him breathing while physicians took test after test trying to discern the cause of his rapid decline.
“It only took about 15 minutes for him to pass, which was a blessing….”
It wasn’t until two months later, however, that Hanna learned the cause of Alan’s death was something she had never heard of — Powassan virus, a tick-borne disease that officially has killed only about 10 people in the U.S., including at least two on Cape Cod. READ MORE.
@MedicGram YOU/all can not afford NOT to protect yourselves! LEAVE out some luxury items so you can afford this. I hear what you are saying though.
My heart goes out to this family on this terrible, deep loss!!
Between my late husband, Jack Gordon, & me, we’ve had CHRONIC LYME 83.5 years!!!
************************************************************************
Each of us were NOT diagnosed for 35 yrs!! I was MISdiagnosed for 35 yrs. by 40-50 drs!!
Jack was NEVER diagnosed! How I learned this was having his BRAIN AUTOPSIED where he made worldwide history having 2 diseases NEVER FOUND together before:
LYME disease and LEWY body dementia causing visual & violent hallucinations like ROBIN WILLIAMS HAD!
Since he’s the 1st worldwide, he will be written up and published in future in an unknown scientific medical journal with ME AS 1ST CO-AUTHOR over 3 medical folks involved!!
Jack was NEVER diagnosed or treated for either of his diseases found in his autopsy!!! It’s ridiculous that he wasn’t as I tried and tried to get him diagnosed/treated for lyme since he had MANY positives but NOT CDC/IDSA/INFECTIOUS DISEASE SOCIETY guidelines POSITIVE with enough + numbers meeting their strict criteria!!
I kept telllng his local neurologist about his visual / VIOLENT HALLUCINATIONS as they are major symptom of lewy body dementia!
My heart goes out to his significant other and family. Glad she is getting the word out as I am as well.
