Chronic Lyme mentioned on TV’s “General Hospital”
This week, a character on the TV soap opera “General Hospital” was told by his doctor he has Lyme disease. The patient said, “I don’t understand. My Lyme disease test came back negative.” The doctor replied: “With Lyme disease, often the first tests comes back as a false negative.”
The doctor uses the term PTLDS (post-treatment Lyme disease syndrome) and says the patient might still feel sick after treatment. Here’s a curious line of dialog: “Chronic Lyme disease is not that uncommon. Any doctor can help you with this….”
