PANS–when infections trigger neuropsychiatric symptoms
PANS—Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome—is a challenging disorder that may be triggered by a variety of infections, including strep and/or tick-borne diseases.
PANS can result in anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, and other psychiatric conditions. Although the “P” in “PANS” stands for “pediatric,” this can happen to adults too.
In the following webinar presented by the LymeLight Foundation, Dr. Daniel Kinderlehrer discusses the spectrum of neuropsychiatric illnesses associated with these infections. He explains how PANS affects the body and explores appropriate diagnostic and treatment strategies.
Conducting the interview is Scott Forsgren, a writer and podcaster also known as “The Better Health Guy.”
