Food safety forum (including tick-related issues), Raleigh, NC

The Commissioner’s Food Safety Forum is an event to discuss the future of food safety with the nation’s food safety experts, members and staff of the Congressional delegation, industry leaders, regulators, public health officials, emergency management and academia.
It takes place Wednesday, August 28, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm; 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm. in the Scott Building, North Carolina State Fairgrounds, in Raleigh, NC.
This year’s forum will include an expanded discussion on allergens and the emerging public health impact of ticks and other vectors.
Dr. Edward Breitschwerdt will discusses various tick-borne diseases. A number of other experts will discuss issues related to alpha-gal syndrome, a severe allergy to meat that can develop after the bite of a lone star tick.
