Developing a new and better diagnostic test for Lyme, figuring out the best drugs to use for the cyst form of Lyme, and how best to deal with biofilms are some of the research projects that will be discussed at CALDA’s upcoming patients’ conference.
Lyme specialist Raphael Stricker, MD, who heads up CALDA’s research committee, will give an update on these and other important research projects which offer hope to those with tick-borne diseases. CALDA funds research projects at Stony Brook University in NY, the University of California, Davis, Stanford University and the University of New Haven, CT.
Dr. Stricker, an internist and hematologist, is a past-president of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS); he is a member of CALDA’s board of directors; he serves on the Lyme Disease Advisory Committee that advises the California Dept. of Public Health; and he has authored more than 100 medical journal articles and abstracts.
CALDA’s second annual patient conference, “Getting Healthy Again in 2010,” will be held April 24, 1-4:30 p.m., at the Dougherty Station Community Center, 17011 Bollinger Canyon Road, San Ramon, CA.
