NYC marathoner raises over $10,000 for LymeDisease.org
(UPDATE: As of November 17, she has raised $11,195.)
Deirdre Keenan–the mother of a young man who has suffered from chronic Lyme disease for years–had several goals for running last weekend’s New York City Marathon.
One was to run a good race, which she clearly did. The 59-year-old finished in a respectable 4 hours, 21 minutes, 33 seconds.
An even stronger motivation was to honor her son Ryan by spreading Lyme disease awareness. Moreover, she chose to use the occasion to raise funds for LymeDisease.org.
Deirdre told Ryan’s story via a GoFundMe page and garnered more than $10,000 in donations in about a week.
We shared Ryan’s story on our website, which you can read here.
Thank you, Deirdre, for all of your efforts on behalf of your son and the Lyme community at large. Together, we’re going to conquer this thing!
