NEWS: Rep. Chris Smith's impassioned plea for Lyme bill
For years, Congressman Smith has championed the cause of people suffering from Lyme disease. In this six-minute clip from C-Span, he forcefully expresses why the federal Lyme bill is so desperately needed. On Sept. 9, HR 4701 passed the House of Representatives. Now it moves to the Senate.
I have been suffering from neurological lyme disease for 5 years.
Rep Chris Smith and Rep Chris Gibson are heroes for the lyme community.
I can’t thank them enough for what they are doing for us!
Obama has just recently anounced a new initiative and an investment of significant funds to develop new antibiotics due to increased bacterial resistance. It my strong opinion that Lyme disease falls into that category and we should push to get more funding for antibioticsor treatments for persistant Lyme disease through this initiative.
As a lyme patient myself, I am so hopeful that change is in the future for research and treatment. Too many people suffer daily from this debilitating disease regardless of the wonderful Dr’s who work tirelessly to help us. God bless the people who advocate for those to ill to do it themselves.
Thank goodness we have people like Chris Smith. Contact your senators to get this bill passed.
I am pleased that Rep. Gibson and Rep Smith have spoken out on this horrible disease with its horrendous co-infections. I have been suffering every day for 14 years. Out of work on disability. My daughter has the infections, and passed them to her son, who has been sick since birth. He has numerous infections , and he is 5 yrs old, and it breaks my heart to see him in pain every day, and so tired, but he is so used to this since he was born so sick. I pray to God every day, to give me all their infections and heal them. On the other side , our Country is going to be a very weak sick country at this rate. There are millions of sick people, who are brain damaged from this infections, and cannot walk or talk. Is the whole country going to survive on SSD, that is where we are headed, all due to these people who are heads of Infec Dis. THe doctors who know these children are sick with lyme but are afraid to treat them. But I m sure they would treat their own family!! Alot of people as I see it have to answer to God on the ignorance and killing of innocent people and children!
My life is almost gone for me.I can’t do anything anymore.I can’t even get disability because no one believes me that I’m sick.I even got proof on blood test that came back positive.I lost my job of 22 years.Ive had heart surgery and thought I would be better.Boy I was wrong.I went to rehab and did everything they told me.I just keep getting worse.I spent all my money I had saved.Now my wife lost her job.we are broke.I even got a lawyer.That really help.I live in Decatur Illinois.Can someone please help me and my family ??????
