Putting our message on NYC’s Times Square jumbotron
By Phyllis Mervine, President of LymeDisease.org
Over 85,000 people have already completed LymeDisease.org’s Symptom Checklist. It’s about to reach even more. This weekend it went live in New York City’s Times Square, on a jumbotron. The huge LED-based screen is at 1500 Broadway, at 43rd (opposite the NASDAQ screen), where hundreds of thousands of pedestrians walk by each day. It will be there for three months, sharing the space with several other Lyme organizations. If you’re in New York City’s Time Square any time in the next couple of months, be sure to take a photo of yourself with the jumbotron and send it to us so we can put it on our social media!
The short Lyme video, which features five individuals, will run for at intervals throughout the day. It suggests people visit LymeDisease.org’s home page to “check their symptoms.” The link to the Symptom Checklist is at lymedisease.org.
Symptom Checklist helps people get diagnosed sooner. You fill out a brief questionnaire that you can print out and take to your doctor. As you answer each question, some information is presented, such as, “Only 25-30% of patients with Lyme disease remember a tick bite.”
The jumbotron ad is an expansion of our May Lyme prevention program. Last spring, Lyme billboards went up in several states. For instance, we worked with the Arizona Lyme Disease Association to put Symptom Checklist billboards up around Tucson.

These were followed by several billboards in Utah featuring real live patients from Utah against a background of Utah scenery.
The Wisconsin Lyme Network also put up several billboards featuring the Symptom Checklist message. Read the story here.
