West Virginia governor says blood work confirms he has Lyme disease
West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has announced that, after receiving the results of his blood work, his doctors have confirmed a diagnosis of Lyme disease.
Gov. Justice says he will remain on antibiotics for several weeks to continue fighting the infection and adds, “I remind all West Virginians, when you go outdoors, monitor yourself for ticks and use insect repellent to stay safe.”
His office reported last week that after feeling quite sick, the governor tested negative for COVID-19. At that time, it was announced that doctors put him on medication for “possible” Lyme disease.
No word on whether the governor has been evaluated for other tick-borne infections that often accompany Lyme disease.
