NEWS: New Yorkers, help Gov. Cuomo make up his mind about Lyme bill
Lyme doctor protection legislation in New York was passed by the legislature last June and still awaits Governor Cuomo’s signature to become law.

In light of Governor Cuomo’s recent statement to the Poughkeepsie Journal, we want to emphasis that this is NEW campaign and all New York State residents who used Votervoice to send a letter to Governor Cuomo before are welcome to use Votervoice to send a second letter with the new message “Sign the Lyme bill into law with NO amendments!”

One contributor at the New York Voices of Lyme website emailed 50 of her New York friends, 15 of which emailed back to her that they had sent an email to Cuomo!
Background: Cuomo is being advised to ask that the wording of the Lyme bill be changed before he signs it. The governor’s office will contact the two sponsors to request a meeting to negotiate a “chapter amendment” to the bill. The sponsors are the NYS legislators who wrote the bill, which in this case, are NYS Assemblywoman Didi Barrett and NYS Senator Kemp Hannon. They would have to agree to the changes before Cuomo signs the bill. Once this is negotiated and agreed upon, the bill will be signed and when the legislature starts its new session in January, the first order of business is to pass all of the chapter amendments.

I have been a Lyme sufferer for eight years now. I get headaches, body aches, joint pain, can’t eat certain foods and more, and suffer from fatigue all the time.
I’m not a New Yorker nor would I want to be. On the long journey to heal my son, whenever we do a specialty lab to look for answers, I see that it is not possible to do in the state of New York. I do not understand what sort of forces would be at play to keep the residents ignorant & oppressed. Thank goodness I don’t live there!
PLEASE sign the lyme disease bill which will stop the harrassment and persecution of practicing physicians. I live in neighboring NJ, and I have been infected and completely disabled as the result of doctor after doctor not wanting to actively and aggressively treat my 30-year+ bout with CHRONIC LYME DISEASE. Their failures to help me more aggressively has been the direct result of the persecution of other physicians in the state by the overly-aggressive review boards, in some cases resulting in the actual loss of medical licenses. I SUFFER FROM A LIFE-CHANGING DISEASE WHICH HAS RUINED MY CAREER, MY FAMILY LIFE, AND MY QUALITY OF LIFE. PLEASE do not allow this pattern to continue one day more in the State of NY. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
My daughter contracted Lyme Disease while on TDY with the FBI.
She survived a long battle with Chronic Lyme Disease via chemotherapy for over 39 months.
Her Chronic Lyme condition is now in re-mission.
There is no proven cure for Lyme or Chronic Lyme Disease.

PLEASE sign this bill without all the restrictions. I am not a resident of New York but of Massachusetts. Unfortunately my daughter contracted it in 2010 while she was a student and soccer player at Adelphi University in Long Island, New York and was MISDIAGNOSED at the Emergency Center at a local hospital she had to stop school for good after 2 yrs because she was so sick. I started with a 18 year old 130 lb athlete and ended up with an 85 lb daughter that I was slowly losing. People need to WAKE UP!! We finally found a doctor and after two yrs of heavy treatment she is in remission for 5 mths. We have drained our retirement and moved and are self employed and pay 28,000 a yr for health insurance, yet we were paying 40,000 a year out of pocket !!!! PLEASE HELP!!!! This is a CHRONIC disease for many people.
Cuomo has handily been elected. I am sending a SECOND letter. If you voted for him (or even against him), start your letter with that …
i am real sick with chronic lyme, please pass the law if you would know what we go thru everyday you would sign it in a blink of an eye and if you do, you will soon know that with lyme growing every year one of your family members wll eventually get diagnosed with lyme disease and they will have better treatment by you you signing or passing a bill or law.god bless you and your family
Please sign this bill…so many of us suffer unimaginably on an hour to hour basis every day…know one knows how hard it is to get through a day and want to live for some and others who have to work and get insurance in NYS cant get the treatment they need…what is the ISDA and CDC doing to us and humans they must understand that its real or they should not be running these organizations because any spirochete can go into stages in the body and cause severe damage to all and any of the organs,immune function and finally the brain or the other way around and live dormant and not be detected by the insensitive testing of labcorp on purpose so we dont get a diagnosis…but the fact is they all have the 3 stages in the human body…so how can they deny us coverage by our insurances and snaction DRs who are caring and understand infectious disease 101!

Your leadership in New York can encourage the governors of other states to protect doctors from harassment and sanctions for following the treatment options they have found to be most effective. If you sign the bill, as is, you show support for ALL of the 300,000 new Lyme patients each year, and for the even larger number who have been fighting this disease for years. When Lyme treatment is ineffective there are more people carrying Lyme out to the ticks! How scary is that? A tick can be NOT infected when it bites, but can come away infected from its host, now ready to pass on the ‘gift’ to the next meal source! Help insure doctors are free to practice research based treatments, without fearing for their licences. Help slow the spread. Please pass the bill, as is.
